English Spider Web Valentine Early 19th Century

This is a rare spider web Valentine created and painted in England in the Early 19th Century.  The love token would be presented as a flat watercolor with a thread in the middle. Upon extending the thread, the watercolor underneath would reveal the Valentine sender’s sentiment. This has been framed very, very carefully with the spider web extended.

This Valentine measures 5 inches square and 2 inches deep shadow boxed in a lemon-gold 19th Century frame.
